Mission Statement

Vōx Dance Collective is a modern dance company that exists to extend the landscape of art through movement. Vōx seeks to generate opportunities for movement creation and consumption. We have  a deep passion for collaboration, people, and the stories that make us who we are. We are dedicated to expanding and engaging audiences with unique, interesting, and accessible dance performances and education.

Our intention is to create space to discuss and reflect on what connects us as humans.  We want to invite the community of Omaha to embrace modern dance by bringing a heightened awareness of not only the background of professional dance, but also, the continuously growing and evolving nature of the art form as a whole. We aspire to lift up existing modalities for dance, while expanding the accessibility of professional quality movement performances and classes.

Company Bio

Originally established in 2021 by Vivian Kim, Vōx Dance Collective was created to fill a need for higher level dance opportunities in Omaha, NE. Vōx is currently under the direction of Erin Brandt and Rachel Tobin, with senior company members Cody Gomez and Maria Reyes Vazquez. We work individually and collectively in pursuit of our goal to create unique and evocative choreography, to engage local artists, and to explore new avenues of collaboration and performance in order to make modern dance more accessible in our community.

Most recent projects include our original show, Filament, at the 2023 Omaha Fringe Festival, and collaborations with Saigon-based choreographer Dieu-Thao Duong for tbd. Dance Collective's Making Space Dance Festival and Dorian Wood’s Canto de Todes at Bemis Center for Contemporary Art. We have also partnered with Bancroft Street Market to present Community Dance Project, an improv based dance performance in which the audience provides ideas, feedback, prompts, and more to the dancers on stage. A moderator guides the performance and the audience helps shape the movement they’ve observed into a short piece of choreography. At this time, we offer adult technique classes on a rolling seasonal schedule with the continued support of STARS Dance Academy.
