INSTRUCTORS & CLASS OFFERINGS

Maria Reyes Vazquez

Maria Reyes Vazquez (she/her) started dancing at age four as a part of the traditional Mexican dance company, “Primavera” and “Chomari”, at El Museo Latino. Maria explored other forms of dance as a performing arts major at Omaha South High School, where she was first introduced to modern dance. In 2014, she studied modern dance at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her movement challenges dancers to move with power, focus on their musicality and trust their momentum. Currently, Maria is a dancer, teacher and choreographer for Vōx Dance Collective. 

FLOOR FLOW + STRENGTH:

FRIDAY, JULY 17TH, 4:00PM-4:45PM

Gravity, momentum & breath will guide our movement and gradually wake the body up. Flow through floorwork and prep your muscles for hanging upside down. Ground yourself for the rest of your day.

Kenzie Sawyer

Kenzie Sawyer is a dancer, choreographer, and educator based in Omaha, Nebraska, and holds a BFA in Contemporary Dance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA). She is passionate about creating an encouraging environment where dancers can strengthen their technique, artistry, and confidence.

CONTEMPORARY MODERN

FRIDAY, JULY 17TH, 4:45PM-6:15PM

This class blends contemporary and modern dance techniques through dynamic phrase work, improvisation, and movement exploration. Dancers will develop musicality, artistry, and versatility while exploring movement with intention and creativity.

Gayle Rocz

Gayle Rocz (she/her) is a dance artist and educator currently based in Omaha, Nebraska. Gayle holds a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and English from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She has been a company member with tbd. dance collective since 2021, and frequently contributes choreography for the company. Gayle teaches throughout Omaha, and enjoys connecting with the dance community.

MODERN

FRIDAY, JULY 17TH, 6:30PM-8:00PM

Feel, Sink, Expand. We'll warm up through guided improvisation tasks, travel across the floor, and end in an expansive phrase in the center. We'll challenge ourselves to reach outside of the room, all while feeling settled in the body. Socks or bare feet!

Erin Brandt

Erin Brandt (she/her) took a modern class in 2013 and never looked back. Since then, she has had incredible opportunities to study with Bandaloop in Oakland, CA & Gaga technique with Margarida Macieira, guest artist spots in both live and film production with tbd an Omaha based dance collective. Choreographic,film and performance opportunities with Fortuna Producción Escénica in Jalisco, Mexico. Erin is endlessly grateful for Vōx and the depths of relationship and creativity that the company has come to hold.

STRETCH + ACTIVATE

SATURDAY, JULY 18TH, 10:00AM-10:45AM

Wake up your body for what’s ahead, through slow and powerful movement. Activate your muscles through intuitive and gentle stretching. Tap into your core and focus your mind through intentional breathing.

Jenny Yang

Jenny Yang is a modern dance artist, educator, and choreographer from South Korea. She studied Modern Dance and taught at the university level before moving to the United States. Through teaching and performance, she encourages dancers to build a strong technical foundation while discovering their own artistic voice.

GRAHAM-INSPIRED MODERN

SATURDAY, JULY 18TH, 11:00AM-12:30PM

This class is rooted in Martha Graham Technique, focusing on Contraction & Release and the connection between breath and movement. Dancers will progress from floor work to center work, ending with a movement combination.

Kelsey Schwenker

Kelsey Schwenker was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado and received a B.F.A. in ballet performance from the University of Oklahoma. She performed professionally for 10 years with Ballet Nebraska and American Midwest Ballet and was featured in roles in Alice in Wonderland, Giselle, Swan Lake and In the Style of Bob Fosse. Kelsey was co-director of the youth performing group Repertory Ensemble at Motion 41 for 6 years, taught dance all around the Omaha metro area, and choreographed work for AMB’s Jr Company and Omaha Dance Project. She has also choreographed ‘Little Women’ (Chanticleer Community Theater), ‘Into the Woods’ (Papillion La Vista Community Theater) ‘Tuck Everlasting’ (Bellevue Little Theatre), and ‘Shrek the Musical’ (Ralston Community Theatre). She is currently in her tenth year as a teaching artist at Omaha Performing Arts with the Disney Musicals in Schools Program.

NEOCLASSICAL CONTEMPORARY

SATURDAY, JULY 18TH, 1:00PM-3:00PM

A mixture of Kelsey’s favorite things (modern, jazz, and ballet techniques), the class will feature a sampler of movement including floor work so dress ready to glide, jump, and roll.

Rachel Tobin

Rachel Tobin (she/her) began dancing with Jean Lanphier Dance Studio and the Omaha Academy of Ballet. She joined UNO's The Moving Company in 2008, and currently has a BA in Dance and English from University of Nebraska at Lincoln. After college she apprenticed with PGK Dance Project in San Diego. She relocated to Wisconsin where she trained in Graham technique with Kanopy Dance Company.

SPIRALS + STRETCH

SUNDAY, JULY 19TH, 10:00AM-10:45AM

We will flow through spirals and curves to stretch and prep for a final day of dance and movement.

Sam Delts

Sam Delts has been dancing since the age of two in Omaha, Nebraska. She is the Creative Director and choreographer at Core Dance Company, with a background in both competitive studio dance and high school dance teams. She holds a degree in education and specializes in Hip Hop, Contemporary, Jazz and Musical Theater. Her award-winning choreography is known for pushing boundaries and thinking outside the box, always aiming to connect, inspire, and tell meaningful stories through movement.

JAZZ FUNK

SUNDAY, JULY 19TH, 11:00AM-12:30PM

Jazz Funk combines jazz and hip hop technique with the confidence, attitude and musicality of commercial dance. Expect a class that's challenging and empowering with sharp choreography and dynamic movement. 

Vōx Dance Collective

Originally established in 2021 by Vivian Kim, Vōx Dance Collective was created to fill a need for higher level dance opportunities in Omaha, NE. Vōx is currently under the direction of Erin Brandt, Rachel Tobin and Maria Reyes Vazquez. We work individually and collectively in pursuit of our goal to create unique and evocative choreography, to engage local artists, and to explore new avenues of collaboration and performance in order to make modern dance more accessible in our community.

COMPANY REP

This rehearsal style workshop will focus on choreography creation and learning Vōx repertory in a cohesive blend to generate a new work unique to intensive participants.
